As a coach, I emphasize team. Without the team, we fail. I also emphasize  team chemistry, intentional improvement, and a sense of humor/having fun.

I expect my athletes to choose to work hard, have a positive attitude, be coach-able, humble, give their best effort, and be respectful. Furthermore, my athletes will need to have a sense of humor.

My athletes and parents should expect me to be the most caring coach they’ve ever had. One that intentionally foster and grows their relationship. They should expect me to be prepared, passionate, and progressive. Above all, consistently emphasizing that the character they develop and the sportsmanship that they show out weigh the scoreboard every time.

Ariel Hodge             Assistant Coach, 16-1

I expect my athletes to always give their best effort with a positive attitude. While success is great, it is not my main goal as a coach. My main goal is to teach my athletes responsibility, accountability, sportsmanship, and valuable moral qualities. I will strive to strengthen athletic skills, as well as character on and off the court. You should expect me to be committed to supporting and caring for your daughter while passing on my love for the game.

Torri Merritt              Assistant Coach, 15-2

As a person, player, and coach, I will never compromise my faith. I will stress the principles of ethics, effort, and team mentality. I expect my athletes to work as a team, have a good attitude, and give effort towards anything they do. I expect them to form healthy relationships with those around them including teammates, coaches, parents, and friends. I also expect them to show grace, mercy, and forgiveness as often as possible. I only only want to make them good players, but more importantly good people.

Maddie Akins             Assistant Coach, 16-1

As a coach my main goal I have is to encourage the girls to get better at volleyball all while having fun. Volleyball to me is not about winning or losing it’s about truly doing something you love. To me, your team is a family. I hope to not only increase their skill level but their love for volleyball.
